Math readiness

What can you use without heavy help?

I can rearrange equations, use trigonometry, resolve vectors, and follow basic derivatives or integrals. I remember some of this, but I would need notes before solving mechanics problems. Algebra, trigonometry, vectors, or calculus still feel mostly unfamiliar.

Physics and mechanics setup

Can you turn a simple physical situation into equations?

I can draw a simple free-body diagram, use units correctly, and connect force, motion, work, or energy to equations. I know the words, but I often get stuck when setting up the problem myself. I have not built these habits yet.

Engineering tools

Two separate questions. Drawing and computing are different skills, and having one does not imply the other.

Engineering drawing and CAD

I can read or produce a dimensioned drawing, or model a simple part in CAD. I have seen drawings or CAD, but I have not practiced enough to work independently. I am new to engineering drawing and CAD.

Programming and computational tools

I can set up an engineering calculation in a spreadsheet or in code. I have used spreadsheets or code a little, but not for engineering work. I am new to spreadsheets and engineering computation.

These add parallel tool gaps beside your starting point. Neither one changes whether you begin in Foundation or Core.

Problem-solving independence

When a worked engineering solution becomes confusing, what do you usually do first?

I redraw the diagram, list knowns and unknowns, check units, and identify the missing relation. I look for a similar worked example and compare the setup. I copy the next step and hope the solution becomes clear later.

Study rhythm

How much focused study time is realistic in a normal week?

1 to 3 hours. I need a slow, consistent path. 4 to 7 hours. I can keep a steady weekly rhythm. 8 or more hours. I can study seriously each week.
